Dangerous Animals

This thread contains the animals that frequently pose a threat to the other inhabitants of the Warrior Lands (mainly canines). Much like in real life, there are few, if any, areas that do not have their own potentially deadly inhabitants, though some have more than others.

The majority of these animals may be brought into threads by members, staff and even the EVENT account. However, some are limited to staff members and/or the EVENT accounts – these statuses will be included in the thread.

Most of these species are NPC’s, however, ice bears and monitor lizards can be played by members.

Beach & Ocean
Elephant seals & sea lions are amongst the large numbers of creatures who come up onto WL’s shores throughout the year. Although they are usually quite placid, the spring months are known to make them very aggressive.

Ray fish always roam the shallows during the warmer summer months.

Tiger sharks & great whites patrol the depths and have been known to make attempts at taking prey from the shallows. They are in their greatest numbers during the spring and summer months, when the seal and sea lions mass on the beach.

The Ruins
Spiders are the main threat of this haunted and crumbled city. Though many are harmless, there are still plenty whose bite hold venom enough to kill whomever is hapless enough to provoke them.

Snakes slide amongst the stone and moss, skilled at massing upon a target and suffocating or throttling it to death. Only a few are of the venomous persuasion.

Ghosts lurk between the wreckage. It is not entirely known what danger they pose, however, there have been reports of ghosts causing harm to travellers.

The Forests
Wild boar, if approached brashly or angered, are formidable opponents for many a wolf and often travel in groups. Avoid them at all costs when they have piglets at their side.

Lynx prowl many a wood in hunt of their next meal and wield a deeply set hate for all wolf and fox kind that has reigned for generations. Given half the chance, a lynx will remove a wolf from the world.

Bears (usually grizzlies) are occasionally seen flitting through the trees and may attack a traveller of any kind, especially if the traveller is trespassing or if the bear has cubs.
(STAFF ONLY)

Snakes of the forest include giant pythons who make short work of suffocation, along with diamondback rattlers and black mamba snakes-- two of the most venomous kind to be found.

The Mountains
Pumas/cougars/mountain lions are one of the main threats of the mountains and often dispatch the unsuspecting traveller with very little thought on the matter.

Bears (usually black) are few and far between, but do roam the peaks and shelter in its caves. These great creatures are short tempered at best and it often takes little to send them into a rage.
(STAFF ONLY)

The Barren Lands
Mojave rattlesnakes, desert kingsnakes & desert death addersare the most feared creatures of the Barren Lands. Deadliest among them is the death adder. The Ningai have lost large numbers of their kind to this snake alone and are careful to avoid one particular cave at the opposite end of their dens as it contains a particularly large specimen known as Wricst that they are unable to remove.

The Grasslands & Light Packs)
Adders & diamondback rattlers are the biggest threat of the grasslands and can be difficult to see, resulting in many a wolf stepping on them as they travel through the long grasses. These snakes often have to be removed from the camps of both Dawn and Eagle as they have spread even to their grasses.

Spiders are another large threat of the grasses and are at least as difficult to see as the snakes, however, spider bites are more common than snake - particularly amongst pups - as their delicate webs serve some fatal attraction to those who do not know much about their owners.

The Frozen Lands
Ice bears, though sworn not to harm wolf or fox, remain the largest threat within the Frozen lands. Amongst rogues the pledge holds no meaning at all, and amongst the rest there are few who let a Dark pass alive.
(STAFF ONLY UNLESS MEMBER HAS GAINED PERMISSION)

Walruses gather in dozens along the border of sea and ice and on the icebergs that float on the freezing waters. These massive creatures are often mistaken as clumsy, but their tusks make them formidable and deadly opponents.

The Swamplands & Dark Packs
Crocodiles, caimans & alligators are the most deadly inhabitants of the swamps and are frequently mistaken as hollow trunks or planks of wood as they patrol their waters. These reptiles take many from all sides......neither traveller nor inhabitant of the swamplands are safe from their jaws.

Monitor lizards are a second best as far as the dangers of the swamplands go, yet they remain the most feared inhabitants as they are best known and often attempt expand their territory to the bordering lands.

Frogs, spiders & snakes are in abundance in this territory and far outnumber the other threats it holds. Whilst some are unable to inflict much damage and all are preyed upon by lizards, crocodiles, alligators and caimans alike, the vast majority of their kind are toxic to non-reptilian creatures who may enter the swamps. Some need only brush against the skin or fur to cause damage.

It is hoped that this thread will help to add extra depth to the site.
